Valentines Day Thoughts From a Rager Like Myself

So I woke up this morning and popped onto Facebook for a moment and of course as always Facebook reminds me of the glorious occasion of Valentines Day and it made me wonder why so many people are so angry about Valentines day…..There seems to be this perception that Valentines is a generic day that we have made and is not worth celebrating..unless of course you have someone to enjoy it with. I think there in lies the problem with people. I can agree with anyone who would say it is generic as fuck…but annoying?? or perhaps overdone?? I am not buying it. I am one day away from 26 and this Valentines Day has made me take some time to sit back and actually enjoy the clean..well semi-clean air here in Houston. Love is a beautiful thing, we can all agree on that and though it can hurt and steal are joy at times it still has tremendous sway or power over are minds and imagination. Kind of creepy in a sense, but truth none the less. But back to the subject at hand…This weekend I had the pleasure of enjoying one of the best weekends of the year thus far and it made me think, I may not have an ounce of dignity or lover in site but what I do have is priceless…I have the love of others around me of a family and friendship unit that no man made generic as fuck holiday can give me. I have roots that are firmly dug into the soil of life that would make the Love of Valentines look like a blip on a radar. So ya this Valentines I take the time to thank all those wonderful people in my life who are unofficially and not knowingly my Valentine…every day is a valentine day moment waiting to happen..the love that can surround you is limitless if you but let go of the ambition to be love and start loving that semi-fresh air around you. So when you see that mushy ass couple giving roses and sweet nothings to there lovers think of the beautiful friends and family you have around you and take time to look at yourself and what you do have rather then wallowing in jealousy because the person next to you is actually happy…just some food for thought.
